Even though Final Fantasy XIV has received negative reactions, Square Enix seems to be working on a new massively multiplayer online game. According to different sources (mainly the website Andria Sang) and some reports out of Japan, the company wants to operate two to three titles simultaneously in order to promote the company’s “cash flow”. In any way, this new title is expected to be officially announced at the end of the fiscal year.
Additionally, the project, which seems to be another MMO, is going to follow the same subscription-based model Final Fantasy XIV has. This probably isn’t good news to anybody still playing the fourteenth installment of the popular series, especially considering how subscribers have been treated for the past months. Furthermore, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada didn’t say if the countless issues the game currently has will be addressed in the near future, but probably not. Nobody has explicitly referred to the PS3 version of Final Fantasy XIV yet, but apparently not many people are interested in going back to it.
