A couple of websites are hinting a new book based on Battlefield 3 and according to these sites (which include Amazon and Barnes & Noble) it’ll come out in fall for $10. The novel is currently known as “Battlefield 3” (a very original name by the way) and it’ll be based on some events featured in the game.
According to the publisher, ex-military soldier and novelist Andy McNab (this is a pseudonym as his true identity remains a mystery) will be in charge of writing the fiction and his work will be supervised by DICE executive producer Patrick Bach. Additionally, it is said that the novel will have about 400 pages and it’ll be released alongside Battlefield 3. McNab previously provided motion-capture recordings that were later on used in the game, so he’s no stranger to the franchise. Furthermore, he has served the military for many years and he’s considered an expert in the field. It should also be noted that Battlefield 3 is not the first game in getting a novel, other popular franchises that have been novelized include: Halo, Uncharted, Resistance, Rage and Mass Effect.
In addition, the first-person shooter is being developed by EA Digital Illusions CE and it’ll be released October 25, 2011 in North America and October 28 in Europe for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Battlefield 3 will feature a single player campaign and a multiplayer one as well. The game is competing directly with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and together they are probably the most anticipated titles of 2011.
