For the past few weeks there have been many rumors about DICE’s upcoming military shooter not being released on Steam, especially after Electronic Arts pulled Crysis 2 and other games from the digital distribution store. Well, today the publisher made reference to the topic and stated that these rumors were in fact true.
Even though the game will be available on various digital retailers, Steam won’t be one of them. Additionally, and even when the aforementioned speculations were confirmed, Electronic Arts hasn’t said anything else about it.
In addition, it should be considered that Battlefield 3’s publisher recently opened a digital store (called Origin) that is competing directly with Steam, so the decision of the game not having a release on the service isn’t really that impressive. Battlefield 3 will be coming out for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the PC on October 25.
