When the first Mortal Kombat: Rebirth viral reboot trailer came out in YouTube it gained massive success over night. Millions of people watched it and were eagerly waiting for the movie, but unfortunately there was no such thing as the trailer was just an experiment to see the fan’s reactions. People’s response was so overwhelmingly positive that Mortal Kombat: Legacy eventually became a web series, debuting on Machinima’s YouTube channel on April 11, 2011.
The series is set before the events of the first tournament and it focuses on certain characters from the franchise in each episode, like Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Sonia, Kano, Johnny Cage, Raiden and Baraka.
Soon, everyone will be able to watch all nine live-action episodes of the series on High-Definition, as a Blu-Ray release is already planned. The disc will be available on November 8, 2011 for &19.98. Allegedly, a DVD version will also be released later on, but for some reason it hasn’t been mentioned on the report.
In addition to the nine episodes, the disc will feature 30 minutes of extra content like interviews, a featurette which will describe all the used fatalities, a documentary, the usual behind-the-scenes clip and the history of the series so far.
