Square Enix officially confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be released in America on January 31 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. In addition to this, the game will come out in Japan on December 15 and in Europe on February 3. It was also revealed that Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be part of a special limited-edition PlayStation 3 bundle.
The package is called Final Fantasy XIII-2 Lightning Edition Ver. 2 (Version 1 was the one that came out with Final Fantasy XIII) and it’ll include a 320 GB PlayStation 3, which will have a unique design, and a copy of the game. For now, the bundle will be exclusive to Japan and will cost 37,960 yen (almost $500). Moreover, the game will have downloadable content that’ll be released after the game’s launch, but it hasn’t been detailed yet.
Apart from Square Enix officially confirming that the game will have a US and Europe release, the Japan-based company suggested that they are seriously considering releasing more titles in other territories (mainly the United States.) The most awaited ones are probably Final Fantasy Type-0 (formerly known as Agito XIII) and Final Fantasy Theatrhythm. The former was originally announced for mobile games but it’s now coming out for the PSP, and the latter is a rhythm game for the Nintendo 3DS.
