Japanese developer Level-5 has always had a close relationship with Sony Computer Entertainment and the company has released many successful games on PlayStation consoles, like Dark Cloud, Dragon Quest VIII, Rogue Galaxy and Jeanne d’Arc, among others. Now, Level-5 has confirmed that their latest title, Ni no Kuni, will be released in North America in early 2012.
According to GameSpot, Level-5 president Akihiro Hino, who spoke during a Sony Computer Entertainment Asia press conference, confirmed an English version of the game. Apparently, the PS3 title will have many similarities to the Nintendo DS version, but the story will be told differently. Additionally, the game will feature additional content that the DS version didn’t have and post release DLC.
The Nintendo DS version has received really good reviews from critics and the game’s gorgeous animation, unique graphics, thrilling music and engaging story have been praised by many popular publications. In the game, the player controls Oliver, a 13 year-old boy who lives in Hotroit City and whose mother dies unexpectedly. The boy is transported to an alternate reality known as Nino kuni and there he begins a quest to revive her.
