PS Vita Launch Lineup Announced for Europe

The PlayStation Vita will be released in a few more weeks in Japan (on December 17 to be more precise) and it’ll be followed by the North American and European on February 22. Recently, the official lineup of games has been announced for PAL territories and it includes some really interesting titles.

Some games are the ones that most people were already predicting like Uncharted: Golden Abyss or Wipeout  2048, but one of the most surprising inclusion was Motorstorm RC, which was just announced. What’s most interesting about the title is that, as the name indicates, the racing game allows players to control RC cars instead of real ones. I still don’t know if this will affect the progression of the series in any meaningful ways or if it’s just another way to try something different for the upcoming portable console, but I guess it’s good to know that at least some developers are taking a few risks. Allegedly, Mostorstorm RC will feature 8 classes of cars, 16 tracks and each track will be based on locations that were already seen in previous titles of the series.

Additionally, the game is expected to have a PS3 release which will be coming out as a PlayStation Network downloadable, featuring 4 player split-screen. It’s also great to know that those players who buy the Vita version will get the PS3 one for free and vice versa, and this seems an amazing feature, so let’s hope it becomes a standard.  In North America though, the game will be released on spring.

Moreover, a new third-person shooter has been confirmed for the Vita. Called Unit 13, it’s being developed by Zipper interactive, the developer of MAG and the SOCOM series. The game is expected to use both analog sticks and the front and back functionality. 36 different missions will be included, which may be played cooperatively with another player, and the title will constantly notify players, providing more information about the leaderboards and challenges. The game hasn’t been given a release date yet, but it’s expected to come out around the release of the Vita in North America.
