Rockstar has acknowledged the existence of Grand Theft Auto V through Twitter, with a link to the official website. The main page shows the game’s logo and promises an upcoming trailer, which apparently will be released on November 2, 2011.
There have been many rumors about the game for the past few months and an unknown source had recently stated that it is likely to be released in 2012. Up to now, no further details about the plot, characters or gameplay have been announced, but I’m pretty sure that this will be an open-world action game in which criminals and prostitutes will probably be featured in some way.
The last two GTA games have received a tremendous critical and commercial success. San Andreas sold more than 12 million units becoming the highest selling PlayStation 2 title and was praised as one of the best games on the console. Additionally and according to Rockstar, as of September 2011, GTA IV has sold more than 22 million copies and it’s still considered one of the best-selling games of all time. This iteration was also extremely well received and it was highly anticipated for being the first game in the franchise to come out on the seventh generation of consoles. Two expansion packs have been developed for GTA IV: The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony.
