As the successor to the biggest massively multiplayer online game ever created (Read: World of Warcraft,) Titan is one of the most anticipated games of the next few years. Even though a lot of people are anxiously waiting for this title to come out, there haven’t been any details about the upcoming game, like its setting or the official name (Titan is apparently a working title.) The only thing we pretty much know about Titan at this point is that according to Blizzard, the game is playable (that would indicate that the project is in an advanced stage of development) and it has been scheduled for 2013 release. One of the reasons why Blizzard is taking its time to develop this game is because the company wants it to feature a lot of content that engages players for longs periods of time, much like World of Warcraft does. Some of the developers went on to say that they want this game to be much longer that World of Warcraft and they want people to play Titan 15 to 20 years after its release.
But more importantly, the American video game developer has recently released a job listing that would provide some additional details about the upcoming massively multiplayer online game. The job listing (which can be found here) would indicate that the game may include in-game advertising in some form.
“Work with major consumer brands to facilitate product placement and licensing within the world of Blizzard Entertainment’s next-gen MMO that enhances the gameplay experience,” states a line from the requisition. Furthermore, the job listing goes on to describe that the person selected may work with non-gaming properties, such as comic books, action figures, short movies and so on. Blizzard hasn’t made any official announcements regarding the new approach towards their upcoming MMO title yet.
Finally, Titan is also expected to be an extremely accessible or casual game that anyone can enjoy, but it’s not known if the title will belong to the role-playing genre or not. Blizzard Entertainment has remained very secretive about the project, but even though there haven’t been any major announcements associated with the game, I really hope that Titan is one of those games which can be played on almost any PC. That has always been one of the main advantages of World of Warcraft, especially for the past few years, as most modern PCs, notebooks and even netbooks became powerful enough to run the game almost flawlessly. I know that playing on a 10 inch screen may not always be the best way to play this kind of games, but if you spend a lot of time away from your house (at school, travelling) it may be a nice alternative to kill an hour or twelve…
