Soulcalibur V Poster Ad Is Controversial and Misleading

In order to attract the attention of potential costumers, Namco Bandai has released a controversial poster advertisement showing Ivy Valentine’s… well, big breasts. Of course this is nothing new to the series as that character in particular is consider a dominatrix and one of the main sex symbols in gaming (whatever that means,) but it seems like this advertisement in particular got out of hand and it may lead to confusion as to what it’s about. It’s also interesting how the product itself is shown at the bottom of the ad in a small portion of the poster.

This spring, your chest swells in anticipation.

As somebody who really appreciated Soulcalibur games back when the brand was called Soul Calibur, I don’t like the direction in which they are taking these new games, it seems like the developers are more interested in large breasts and cameo appearances of new characters than in polishing the game itself. Regarding the characters it should be noted that there will be 7 new ones and Ezio Auditore da Firenze will be a guest. Oh, by the way, the text in the middle of the… mmm… poster reads: “This spring, your chest swells in anticipation.”

Additionally, a new trailer has been release to promote the upcoming fighting game which will come out here in America and Europe in early 2012 (January 31 and February 3 respectively.) Watch it here:
