Most of you probably know how Humble Indie Bundles work by now. You visit the Humble Bundle official site, pay what you want for a bundle of games and in addition, you may get some interesting extras free of charge. It’s worth pointing out that a portion of the money you pay goes to charity and some of that money goes to the developers. The Humble Botanicula Debut works exactly the same, the only difference being that all the games featured in this bundle were developed by Amanita Design.
For the uninitiated, Amanita Design is a Czech video game developing company who has created various award winning titles, including Samarost 2 and Machinarium. If you haven’t tried those games yet, fear not as The Humble Botanicula Debut features both these games. Those who pay less than average ($8.83 as of this writing,) get the following point-and-click adventures: Botanicula, Machinarium and Samarost 2. On the other hand, those who pay more than average get Windosill and an independent film created by Amanita Design founder Jakub Dvorsky, called Kooky. Additionally, if you pay more than $5 you get redeemable Steam keys in addition to DRM-free versions of the games. Note that the bundle is available for PC, Linux and Mac for a limited amount of time and that after the promotion expires, you won’t be able to get it anymore. Part of the money you pay goes to World Land Trust so you are helping a good cause and you’re getting some great games at the same time.
Personally, I haven’t had time to play Botanicula yet, but I did play Machinarium a while ago and let me tell you that that game is one of the best point-and-click adventures ever created. Puzzles are creative, the characters are extremely adorable, the story is captivating and the soundtrack is simply mesmerizing. If you haven’t played any of these titles yet, I highly recommend that you do and what better time to get them than on this extremely appealing bundle?
