Activision Working on Reimagined Version of Pitfall for iPhone

Back in the day, Atari 2600, ColecoVision, Commodore 64 and Intellivision owners spent hours controlling Pitfall Harry and helping him make his way through the jungle. Thankfully for fans of Pitfall, Activision is working on an iPhone version of the classic title as part of the game’s 30th anniversary. Interestingly enough, when everyone heard that UK studio Activision Leeds was going to make an announcement, everyone expected a Call of Duty-related title. But everyone was surprised to know that the mobile game in question is an iPhone version of the classic platformer.

To be completely honest I’ve never been a fan of Pitfall. I’ve tried the 8-bit classic a couple of times, but personally, I find it quite hard to go back to Atari 2600 games. But even when I don’t like the game that much, I must admit that some of its features were ahead of its time. In fact, some fans refer to Pitfall as one of the first open-world titles. And to think that really soon those fans will be able to play a revamped version of their favorite game on the very same phones they carry in their pockets…
