Currently, players interested in playing the fantasy Arkanoid-like indie title Wizorb can do so in the PC, Mac and Xbox Live Arcade. But in addition to those platforms, Wizorb is coming to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable on July 24, 2012 for $3.99. The game is expected to be playable on the Vita as well, but the portable console’s backward compatibility functionality is so complex, that the company in charge of this port isn’t sure if it’ll work right from the get go. It’s worth pointing out that Beatshapers, which is the name of the company behind this port (the original version was developed and published by Tribute Games,) has stated that the game will eventually run on the Vita.
For the uninitiated, Wizorb combines elements from both Arkanoid and RPGs. In the game, you assume the role of Cyrus, a wizard who has to save the Kingdom of Gorudo, which is under a powerful curse. The multiple stages have enemies and blocks that must be destroyed to complete the level. In addition, the game has a variety of abilities, power-ups and items (such as gold coins, gems, keys, extra lives and so on.) Finally, you can watch the XBLA announcement trailer after the break.
