And the HD remakes of older games just keep coming. I guess the lack of backwards compatibility in most modern consoles (PlayStation 3 Slim, I’m looking at you) has allowed developers and publishers to revamp some of their best games and re-release them in HD. The problem is that it hasn’t been that long since we’ve been playing some of these titles on the PS2 anyway. But no matter how I feel about HD remastered versions of games, one thing is undeniable: new audiences are probably being introduced to older series that they missed back in the day.
On that note, Famitsu has confirmed that the HD remakes of Yakuza 1 and 2 are coming this November to Japan. This collection will be titled Yakuza 1 and 2 HD Edition (a very original name if you ask me) and will be priced at 5290 Yen, which is approximately $67. Apart from improving the graphics, SEGA has made the load times much shorter, players can manage their inventory in the phone booths and the food that the player has eaten will be marked on the menu. As of this writing it hasn’t been confirmed if this package will be released in North America, Europe or Australia, but I’m pretty sure we’ll have more news about this soon.
