It looks like the rumors that have been circling around for the past few days were in fact true, Sony will start releasing PlayStation Collections soon. Today, the company has confirmed that they will launch a new software line called PlayStation Collections which will debut with the God of War and inFamous sagas.
The former includes God of War, God of War II, God of War III and the God of War Origins Collection (which at the same time features the PSP games God of War: Chains of Olympus and God of War: Ghost of Sparta) along with some exclusive bonus content and a voucher for a one-month trial of PlayStation Plus. The latter includes inFamous, inFamous 2, inFamous: Festival of Blood and extra missions, costumes and more bonus content. In addition, Sony has stated that some select titles from the aforementioned collections will be available individually through the PlayStation Network, but as of this writing, no prices have been provided. Sony has also hinted the existence of other collections that are expected to be announced during the upcoming weeks.
The idea of releasing collections that include every single title and piece of downloadable content of a given series is great, mainly because it gives the opportunity to those players who have never played those games, to catch up with all of them in one very convenient (not to mention cheap) package. While the release of both the God of War and inFamous bundles is fantastic, I’m really looking forward to see what Sony announces next.
Finally, it’s worth mentioning that the God of War PlayStation Collection will cost $40 and the infamous one will cost $30 and they will be available on August 28th.
