One of the main reasons why the Street Fighter: Legacy short film became extremely popular among fans of the franchise was for its fantastic production values. To me personally, it was quite impressive to see that in only three minutes, two amateur directors managed to do what Hollywood couldn’t do in an hour and a half (just in case you were wondering this is what Hollywood came up with.) Fortunately, that won’t be the last Street Fighter-related project we’ll see from the people involved in the short film.
A few weeks ago, Capcom USA confirmed that they teamed up with the creators of Street Fighter: Legacy to produce a live-action series based on events from the popular fighting game, called Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist. The company also stated that the upcoming series will debut sometime next year, but no specific date was confirmed yet.
From a story perspective, Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist will be set in rural Japan and it will follow the stories of Ryu and Ken as they train to become the best martial artists in the world. It’s worth mentioning that the title makes reference to a Japanese fighting style known as “Ansatsuken” and it translates to… you guessed it, Assassin’s Fist.
Finally, if you can’t wait for Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist to come out and you want to watch a series based on a popular fighting game franchise right now, try catching up with Mortal Kombat: Legacy right here on the site. On the other hand, if you haven’t watched Street Fighter: Legacy yet, you can find the video after the break.
