What Weighs 11 Pounds and Costs $450? Final Fantasy Ultimate Box Announced

Final Fantasy Ultimate Box

A few days ago, Square Enix announced the Final Fantasy “Ultimate Box,” a compilation that will include pretty much every title in the series (up until XIII) at a not so affordable price. The collection will be released as part of the series’ 25th anniversary and it’ll only be available in Square Enix’s e-shop on December 18th.

The first nine games are PlayStation 1 titles with the exception of Final Fantasy III on the PlayStation Portable. Final Fantasy X, XI (this is the Vana’diel Collection which includes the massively multiplayer online game and two expansions) and XII are all PlayStation2 titles. Finally, Final Fantasy XIII is on the PlayStation 3.

In addition to all the aforementioned games, the collection will feature a commemorative video disc, an art book called Crystal Artworks and a two-disc soundtrack, among some other collectibles. The Ultimate Collection will be available for ¥35,000, which translates into $450. It’s worth noting that the compilation hasn’t been confirmed for the west as of this writing.

Finally, here’s the list of all games that will be part of the collection:

  • Final Fantasy (PS1, 1 disc)
  • Final Fantasy II (PS1, 1 disc)
  • Final Fantasy III (PSP, 1 UMD)
  • Final Fantasy IV (PS1, 1 disc)
