Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition is an upcoming remake of Bioware’s classic role-playing game Baldur’s Gate. This updated version of the game is coming out on the PC, Mac OS X, iPad and Android tablets with new characters, a new quest and the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion pack.
What other improvements does the Enhanced Edition of Baldur’s Gate include? For me, the most impressive one is the fact that the Enhanced Edition is optimized to run on tablets. Maybe it was just a matter of time before a developer (in this case Overhaul Games) was able to figure out how to run Infinity Engine games on portable devices, but it still striking. Does this mean that soon enough we’ll be able to play improved versions of Icewind Dale or Planescape: Torment on the iPad? Fingers crossed!
Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition will be released on the PC, Mac OS X and iPad on November 28th. The PC and Mac versions will cost $19.99 and the iPad will cost $9.99. An Android version is also in the works, but a release date hasn‘t been announced yet.
