Not only is The Longest Journey usually regarded as one of the best point-and-click adventures ever made, but also one of the greatest games in general. Ever since the game came out in 1999, many critics have applauded its complex story, compelling puzzles and mature subject matter. Eventually, a sequel came out. Dreamfall: The Longest Journey was released on the PC and Xbox in 2006 and even though this follow-up had its fair share of issues (it was short, some of its gameplay elements were simplistic and the story was unsatisfying,) it was quite well received. Needless to say, developer Funcom likes taking its time to release games set in The Longest Journey universe. Which brings me to this exciting announcement: Funcom have stated that Dreamfall Chapters is in the works.
The Secret World creative director Ragnar Tørnquist has founded a new studio, Red Thread Games, which will be in charge of this next chapter. In the meantime, Chapters is in pre-production, which means that more details will be revealed soon. What we know so far is that the game will continue the story that started in The Longest Journey and Dreamfall. Finally, while a specific release date for Dreamfall Chapters hasn’t been announced yet, the game is expected to come out on the PC and Mac.
