Mass Effect Trilogy for the PS3 Comes December 4th

When Bioware announced the Mass Effect Trilogy, the company stated that the Xbox 360 and PC versions were coming on November 6th (that’s tomorrow,) but a release date for the PlayStation 3 hadn’t been confirmed at the time. Fortunately, that last part has changed since the developer has announced that the Mass Effect Trilogy is coming to the PS3 on December 4th in North America and December 7th in Europe.

It’s worth noting that this will be the first time that the original Mass Effect is released on Sony‘s home console. But what happens to those who already own Mass Effect 2 and 3 on the PS3 and want to complete the collection by getting the original Mass Effect only? Thankfully for those guys, the title will be available as a standalone download on the PlayStation Network.

As its name indicates, the Mass Effect Trilogy includes Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 and it costs $59.99. In terms of DLC, the PS3 version of the first Mass Effect will include Bring Down the Sky, the PC version will include Bring Down the Sky and Pinnacle Station and finally, the Xbox 360 version won’t include any pieces of DLC. With Mass Effect 2, all three versions get Cerberus Network, but PS3 owners will also get Lair of the Shadow Broker, Kasumi and Overlord. With Mass Effect 3, all three versions get Cerberus Network. That’s a lot of Mass Effect!

when the new mass effect trilogy is released what happens for people who already have me2 on ps3 with the cerberus dlc. i mean the genesis interactive comic with the 6 important choices. will we have to delete the entire cerberus dlc to avoide having to make them 6 choices again when we try to import our me1 save file. its just a thought i had because there are other parts of the cerberus dlc that i would like to keep. eg. normandy crash site, zaeed, and wepons and armor.

To be completely honest, I have no idea what happens in this particular case. Still, I don’t think the game will force you to delete the DLC. Then again, I’m not sure if Bioware has said anything about cases like this.

Although fans have created some Wikis to discuss the “save file feature,” I don’t think we’ll know what happens in cases like yours until the Trilogy comes out in a few weeks. I’ll do more research about this and if I find anything I’ll let you know Billy.

      Thanks for the comment!

Thanks for the reply eric, i just read this on wiki but i dont know if it will be the same for importing me1 save files.. i hope not. thanks again.

“If you used Mass Effect: Genesis to customize your Mass Effect 2 playthrough with Mass Effect story decisions on the Xbox 360, and you then want to do additional Mass Effect 2 playthroughs by importing your initial Mass Effect 2 save games, you should delete Mass Effect: Genesis before attempting to start the new playthrough. If you don’t, the game will force you through the interactive comic even though you’re importing an earlier Mass Effect 2 playthrough.”

No problem Billy! Unfortunately, I couldn’t find anything else regarding this particular issue. Thanks for sharing some information and sorry I couldn’t be of more help.
