Video Game Theater – Assassin’s Creed: Lineage (Part I)

Everyone always complains that video game film adaptations are terrible, but it seems like those people have never watched webseries such as Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, Bright Falls: The Prequel to Alan Wake or Mortal Kombat: Legacy. Assassin’s Creed: Lineage is similar to those miniseries in the sense that it is really well put together and its production values are superb.

The story of Lineage is a prequel to Assassin’s Creed II and it tells the story of Giovanni Auditore, the father of the main character of the game, Ezio Auditore da Firenze. The short is set in the 15th-century Italy during the Renaissance. Apart from the story, it’s worth noting that Hybride Studios was in charge of the short’s surprisingly well done special effects. For the uninitiated, this is the same team that worked on 300, Sin City and Avatar.

On a more personal note, I completely missed Lineage when it was originally released in 2009. If you did too, the first part of the series is embedded on top of this post for your viewing pleasure.
