As a way of celebrating the 25th anniversary of both Street Fighter and Mega Man, Capcom will be releasing an 8-bit crossover called Street Fighter X Mega Man. The title will be released for free on December 17th for the PC. The homage will be structured similarly to classic Mega Man titles, but instead of fighting eight Robot Masters, the blue bomber will face eight Street Fighter characters to obtain their weapons.
Mega Man fans have been complaining that there haven’t been any new titles with the blue bomber as the main protagonist, but I think this project represents a great homage. Interestingly, the first prototype was proposed by Singaporean fan Seow Zong Hui at a Capcom event and the company liked the idea so much that they decided to make it part of the little robot’s anniversary. Additionally, the game’s original soundtrack will be created by Luke Esquivel, better known as A_Rival.
Fans will be able to download Street Fighter X Mega Man on December 17th. The title will be available for free on Capcom’s official website, Capcom-Unity.
