The Long Wait Has Paid Off, Half-Life Now Available on Mac and Linux

Half-Life Screenshot (Mac, Linux)

15 years have passed since the release of the original Half-Life, but that didn’t stop Valve from releasing the seminal first-person shooter on both Mac and Linux. Interestingly, multiple Valve games have been available on operating systems other than Windows for a while, but for some reason the original Half-Life wasn’t.

It’s worth pointing out that even though the Steam page doesn’t list Mac as a supported platform yet, Polygon has confirmed that the game runs perfectly on it. Needless to say, if you own a computer that runs on Mac or Linux, you need to download Half-Life as soon as possible. Although I’ve been meaning to review the highly influential shooter for a while, I have played enough of it to say that it has aged more gracefully that you might think.

As of this writing, Half-Life is available for $7.49 on Steam.
