I haven’t had a chance to play Thomas Was Alone yet, but people have praised Mike Bithell’s minimalist platformer for so long that I feel like I need to play it as soon as possible. Fortunately, the PlayStation Blog has confirmed that Thomas Was Alone is coming to both the PS3 and PS Vita.
This upcoming release will feature Cross Buy, so buying one version of the game gives you access to both. The PlayStation edition will also have a director’s commentary mode, a new DLC prologue and additional voice work and music.
In Thomas Was Alone, you assume the role of various polygon-shaped characters, including Thomas, a rectangle who needs to reach a portal at the end of each level. The premise sounds simple enough, but the game also features a memorable narrative, creative puzzles and likeable characters.
It’s worth pointing out that Hotline Miami, Lone Survivor, Snapshot and Thomas Was Alone are some of the indies that are expected to come out on the Vita soon. So little by little the portable console is becoming one of the best platforms to play independent games. Who would have thought?
