Retro Games Podcast Retronauts Will Be Back Thanks to Kickstarter

Retronauts

Classic gaming podcast Retronauts will be back, thanks to an extremely successful Kickstarter campaign. Former 1UP members Bob Mackey, Ray Barnholt and Jeremy Parish were asking for $12,000 to buy the necessary equipment and rent a recording space. In less than 24 hours, the beloved podcast was fully funded and as of this writing, the campaign has more than $41,000.

As a consequence, some stretch goals are a reality, including shorter episodes that will be released on the “off” weeks, a podcast theme and video projects that will be uploaded to YouTube. Other stretch goals that might become a reality soon include: two livestreams for charity, travel expenses for three events, a Retronauts book, a Retronauts website and finally, everything mentioned above will happen again next year if they get $85,000.

I must admit that I’ve only listened to a couple of episodes of Retronauts, but there’s a reason for that. Since most episodes focused on one particular franchise (for instance, Silent Hill,) sometimes it was hard to listen to an episode if I hadn’t played a game in the series they were discussing. Still, if you haven’t listened to Retronauts before, I urge you to look it up. Since the podcast is based on classic franchises, old episodes hold up remarkably well, even after years of their release.
