Earthbound Finally Coming to the North American Virtual Console

Earthbound (SNES)

Not only is Earthbound one of the most beloved role-playing games ever made, but also one of the most requested in the West. Well, guess what? During the latest Nintendo Direct, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced that Earthbound is coming to the North American and European Wii U Virtual Console this year.

Earthbound (also known as Mother 2 in Japan) was released on the Super Nintendo in 1995 and quickly became a cult classic. The game follows the story of a young boy called Ness and his friends Paula, Jeff and Poo. Their main objective is to defeat a an evil alien called Giygas.

North American fans have been clamoring for a western release for years now and it seems like Earthbound is finally going to come out in this part of the world. My latest article about Earthbound started with this question: “Will I ever have the chance to play Earthbound?” I finally get an answer to that question (and more importantly, an answer I like!) But does this mean that Nintendo will eventually release Mother 3 in North America? One step at a time… One step at a time…
