I’ve meant to play BioWare role-playing games for some time now, but going back to those classics titles is becoming increasingly difficult. But while certain BioWare titles have aged better than others, the mod community has worked hard to make some of these games look more modern. That’s the case of Baldur’s Gate: Reloaded, a modification that puts the entire game in the Neverwinter Nights 2 engine and the result is nothing short of impressive.
This 3D recreation of the classic computer RPG has been in development for seven years and to play it, you need a copy of Neverwinter Nights 2 and expansions Mask of the Betrayer and Storm of Hezir (which you can purchase in GOG as a package.) Then you can download the mod from here.
Interestingly, the mod allows players to experience the campaign from both a third-person and a top-down perspective. Additionally, Baldur’s Gate: Reloaded features both the original game and its expansion, Tales of the Sword Coast.
I don’t know about you, but I think playing the Baldur’s Gate in 3D sounds amazing.
