Nintendo Direct Recap: Zelda, Super Smash Bros., Professor Layton, Phoenix Wright, More

The latest Nintendo Direct presentation had updates on a variety of Nintendo properties, including The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD, Professor Layton versus Phoenix Wright, Rayman Legends and Animal Crossing: New Leaf, to name but a few.   • A trailer for Sonic: Lost World was shown. Both the Wii U and 3DS version of the platformer are coming out on October 22nd.
  • Rayman Legends will feature Rayman Origins stages. Additionally, the Nintendo version of the game will come with Mario and Luigi costumes. The game will launch on August 30th in Europe and September 3rd in North America.
  • A video for downloadable application Art Academy: Sketchpad was shown. The interactive app launches via the eShop on August 9th.
  • Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, the latest entry in the Mario & Luigi series of role-playing games, comes out on August 11th.
  • A series of exclusive figures for Pokémon Rumble U were confirmed. The 18 collectible NFC figures will be sold exclusively through GameStop when the game is available. Pokémon Rumble U will be available on August 29th.
  • A couple of classics are coming to the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console, including Summer Carnival 92, Donkey Kong, Tecmo Bowl, Wario Land 3 and Super Mario Bros. 3.
  • Two Professor Layton announcements. First, Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy is coming to the North America in 2014. Second, the Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney crossover is also coming to both North America and Europe in 2014.
  • The logo from The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds was explained. There will be two triforces, one representing Gold and the other representing Shadow.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD is coming to North America this October.
  • Luigi will be a playable character in both versions of Super Smash Bros.
  • A Wii U social hub called the Animal Crossing Plaza is now available. Fans of the recently released Animal Crossing: New Leaf can upload pictures, interact with their favorite characters from the game and find posts in this free application.
