Classic role-playing game Final Fantasy VIII is now available on Steam for $11.99, developer Square Enix has announced.
In terms of new features, the Steam version of Final Fantasy VIII includes Steam cloud support, 45 achievements, the Pocket Station minigame Chocobo World and the Magic Booster which lets you power up spells.
Final Fantasy VIII follows the story of six characters (Squall Leonheart, Rinoa Heartily, Quistis Trepe, Zell Dincht, Selphie Tilmitt and Irvine Kinneas) soon after global superpower Galbadia declared war on Dollet.
Originally released for the PlayStation in 1999, Final Fantasy VIII has also come out for the PC in 2000. More recently (in 2009, to be more precise,) the JRPG was brought to the PlayStation Network. In my review, I called Final Fantasy VIII “one of the finest role-playing games ever created.”
