The console version of Skullgirls is experiencing a licensing battle with Konami which means that the 2D fighting game will be removed from both Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network on December 31st. Luckily, a new version called Skullgirls Encore will be released in January 2014. Skullgirls Encore will be available for free to everyone who currently owns Skullgirls.
But the transition from traditional Skullgirls to Skullgirls Encore will affect PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade owners in different ways. The PlayStation Network version of Encore is considered a new build, therefore, the save data, trophies, leaderboard information and DLC will be incompatible with Encore.
The Xbox Live Arcade transition, on the other hand, will be smoother, since Encore is considered a patched version of the original game. As a consequence, save date, achievements, leaderboards and DLC will be compatible with Encore.
As a way of rewarding the community for their patience, the upcoming DLC will be free for a period of three months. The DLC adds a new character called Squigly
It’s worth mentioning that the Steam version of Skullgirls is unaffected by the aforementioned licensing problems. For more information about Encore, follow the source link below.
