An iOS-exclusive interactive novel based on 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors is coming to iOS devices (iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch) on March 17th for $4.99, publisher Aksys Games announced on Facebook.
Originally released for the Nintendo DS in 2010 in North America, 999 (also known as Zero Escape) follows the story of Junpei who’s kidnapped and placed inside an empty cruiser with eight other people. These people are forced to play a twisted game which involves exploring the boat and solving puzzles.
The upcoming interactive comic is different to the game, in the sense that 999: The Novel doesn’t feature any puzzles. Instead, the novel follows a “choose your adventure” structure and you can always go back and try different options to see how the story unfolds.
A direct sequel to 999 called Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward launched on both the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo DS.
