If Shadowrun Returns wasn’t enough cyberpunk for you, you’ll be glad to hear that Shadowrun Online is coming to Steam Early Access on March 31st. The turn-based massively multiplayer game was made possible thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign and over a year of development.
It’s worth mentioning that Harebrained Schemes developed Shadowrun Returns and Cliffhanger Productions developed Shadowrun Online, so the only thing both titles have in common is that they share the same fictional universe.
Since Shadowrun Online will debut on the Early Access program, the game won’t be complete. At launch, there will be a PvP map, two characters, four missions and some basic skills, but don’t expect a complete product, since the game will still be in development for a while. Through this first version, the developer expects to introduce players to the game’s world and combat. Eventually, monthly updates will feature new content, such as character creation, skill progression and new missions.
The complete version of Shadowrun Online: Lockdown is coming to PC, Mac and mobile devices in late 2014.
