Minecraft is coming to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita soon, developer Mojang has announced in a recent blog post. Apart from the announcement, the developer revealed new features and the ability to upgrade to one of the upcoming versions of the game for a small fee, if you already have it in other platforms.
Below you’ll find a list with some of the most important features for each version of the game.
Minecraft Xbox One Edition:
This version of the game’s coming in August for $19.99 and will feature bigger worlds and greater world distance than the Xbox 360 Edition. Additionally, Minecraft for Xbox One includes all the features that were included in the latest Xbox 360 title update and pretty much all the DLC you own from the old version will transfer to the new one. If you already own the Xbox 360 version of the game, you’ll be able to upgrade for $4.99. Players will be able to import worlds from the Xbox 360 version of the game to the Xbox One version, but not the other way around due to technical problems.
Minecraft PlayStation 3 + PlayStation Vita Edition:
These versions of the game are coming in August for $19.99 and will feature Cross-Buy, so if you bought the game on the PS3, you’ll be able to play it on the Vita and vice versa. Players will be able to transfer saves between platforms and most of the DLC will work on both versions of the game.
Minecraft PlayStation 4 Edition:
Minecraft for the PlayStation 4 is coming in August for $19.99 and will feature bigger worlds and a greater world distance than the PS3 and Vita versions. MinecraftPS4 Edition comes with all the content included in the PS3 version and if you already own the old version, you’ll be able to upgrade to the new one for $4.99. You’ll be able to import PS3 and Vita saves to the PS4 Edition, but not the other way around due to technical issues. Finally, most of the DLC you’ve bought on previous versions will work on the PlayStation 4 Edition of Minecraft.
