In a surprising turn of events, Microsoft has announced that a new Xbox One bundle is coming out next month. The upcoming bundle, which is launching on June 9th, doesn’t have a Kinect (a device that Microsoft has always presented as a fundamental part of the console) and will cost $399 in North America and £349 in the United Kingdom.
But that’s not all. The Games with Gold initiative (which gives free games to subscribers) is coming to Xbox One in June. If you have a subscription and an Xbox One console, you’ll be able to download Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and Halo: Spartan Assault free of charge.
To celebrate the first anniversary of Games with Gold, Xbox 360 members will receive one extra game this month. The free games in question are Dark Souls, Charlie Murder and Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition. Finally, Xbox Live Gold members will also receive discounts for some of the most popular titles.
Finally, you won’t need to pay for a subscription-based service (read: Xbox Live) in order the have access to entertainment applications. Coming in June, you won’t have to pay a cent to use apps like Machinima, Twitch, Upload, Netflix, Univision Deportes, GoPro, Red Bull TV, HBO GO, NFL, MLB.TV, NBA Game Time, NHL Game Center, Internet Explorer, Skype, OneDrive and OneGuide, among others. Finally!
Microsoft has compiled all major announcements in a convenient digital poster which I embedded below.
