Electronic Arts has really improved the perception users have of its digital distribution service during the past few weeks. The company changed the platform’s return policy and they recently launched the “On the House” program which lets anyone download a free game from the service and keep it forever in your digital libraries. As a way of promoting Origin even more, EA has launched a sale where you can get up to 70% discounts.
Interestingly, the sale makes fun of Origin’s competitor Steam. If you go to Origin’s homepage, the first thing you’ll probably notice is an image that says “70% off games you’ll actually play.” “Your backlog can wait. These games are the real deal,” the ad continues. The advertisement clearly makes fun of Steam, a platform famous for its sales where users buy dozens of games they never get to play.
Some of the games that are part of the sale include The Sims 3, Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3, Battlefield 3, Dragon Age Origins, Dragon Age Origins II, Mirror’s Edge, Spore, Dead Space 2, Dead Space 3, Bulletstorm, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, Alice Madness: Returns, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and Medal of Honor, among many, many others.
