Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics are now available for purchase on Steam, Bethesda has confirmed in a recent blog post. The classic role-playing games were removed from both Steam and GOG after Bethesda got the rights, but publishing issues prevented the company from keeping the games on those digital distribution services.
The Steam version of the games comes with new features, including cloud saves and Fallout and Fallout 2 can be launched in default mode (which allows higher definitions) or classic mode (which is the original release.) Fallout Tactics remains unchanged, but the multiplayer is supported via direct connection. By the way, while Fallout and Fallout 2 are compatible with Windows 8, Tactics isn’t.
The games are available as individual downloads which cost $9.99 or as a bundle for $19.99. As of this writing, it hasn’t been confirmed if the games are returning to GOG.
