Before you know it, every Final Fantasy game from the main series will be available on Steam. The latest addition to the popular digital distribution service is Final Fantasy IV which is now available on Steam for $15.99. This is the first time that Final Fantasy IV was released on the PC, so if you’ve never owned a console and you’re interested in the JRPG series, you have some serious catching up to do.
For those unfamiliar, Final Fantasy IV was the first game in the series to include the “Active Time Battle” system (which means that time doesn’t stop when you’re selecting commands) and this was kind of a big deal for the genre, influencing dozens of JRPGs.
The Steam release comes with fully-voiced cutscenes, a built-in jukebox, achivements, cloud support, controller support and trading cards. By the way, I recently played the PSP version of Final Fantasy IV (that version in particular is called The Complete Collection and apart from the game it also comes with episodic content.) I’ll be posting the review soon, so if you want to read my thoughts on that game, stay tuned.
