PlayStation TV Launches October 14th

PlayStation TV

Sony’s set-top box, the PlayStation TV, will be out on October 14th, the company confirmed on the PlayStation Blog. On day one, people who buy a PlayStation TV will be able to play nearly 700 games from different platforms, since the PS TV is compatible with PlayStation Vita, PSP and PSone Classic games.

If you’re interested in getting the console, there will be two options: the $99.99 version features the stand-alone system and the $139.99 bundle features the system, a DualShock 3 wireless controller, an 8GB memory card and The LEGO Movie: Videogame. There’s also a Walmart special bundle that comes with everything the PS TV bundle plus a copy of Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, also for $139.99.

The PlayStation TV can be used to watch movies, TV series and other entertainment applications, but these haven’t been detailed yet. The platform will also be compatible with PlayStation Now (this feature in particular is arriving at a later date.)
