Final Fantasy VII Coming to PS4 in Spring 2015, Not an HD Remake

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the PlayStation, Sony held an event in Las Vegas called the PlayStation Experience where a lot of announcements took place. One of those announcements was that Final Fantasy VII is coming to the PlayStation 4 in Spring 2015, but to a lot of people’s dismay, the upcoming title isn’t an HD remake.

So you can imagine people’s reactions when they realize that the upcoming version of the seminal role-playing game is just a port of the PC version. Although Square Enix hasn’t said anything specific about the port, it’s expected that the PS4 version of the game comes with all the extras that were included in the PC version, such as cloud saves, achievements and the character booster mode.

Apart from the fact that it’s going to be playable on the PlayStation 4 and that it might have some new features, this is pretty much the same game you’ve played over and over since 1997. Needless to say this isn’t the announcement fans of the series were expecting.
