I didn’t want it to believe when it was first announced, but the time has finally come. The remastered version of Grim Fandango is now available on Steam, GOG, the Humble Store and PSN, so those who use PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4 or Vita will be able to download and play the game today for $14.99.
For those unfamiliar, Grim Fandango is a neo-noir comedy released by LucasArts in 1998 to critical acclaim. The game was praised for its artistic components, overall design and for its unconventional humor, quickly achieving a cult status. This was the first LucasArts adventure to feature three-dimensional visuals with pre-rendered backgrounds. The story, which combines elements from classic films like Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon and On the Waterfront, puts you in the shoes of Manuel Calavera as he tries to save Mercedes Colomar during her journey through the Land of the Dead.
Grim Fandango Remastered was developed by Double Fine Productions and features a modified control scheme, high-resolution textures and the ability to switch back and forth between the graphics of the original version and the remastered one.
