Shadowrun is making history again. Two hours after posting their Kickstarter campaign, developer Harebrained Schemes had already hit its funding goal and as of this news article, the campaign is four times its goal (more than $400,000.) Brought to you by the same people behind Shadowrun Returns and Shadowrun: Dragonfall, the campaign is for a computer role-playing game set in the city of Hong Kong in the year 2056.
So what’s new apart from a new setting? Not much, but if you liked previous games in the series, you probably know that’s a good thing. There’s a new crew and the game uses all the gameplay upgrades introduced on Shadowrun: Dragonfall, including the ability to save anywhere. This is still a story-driven RPG with a cyberpunk setting, the ability to lead a small number of shadowrunners, turn-based combat and an editor to create your own stories or download campaigns created by other players.
Shadowrun: Hong Kong is being developed exclusively for PC, Mac and Linux. For more information about the game or the funding goals, check out the game’s Kickstarter page.
