The Xbox 360 version of Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition is now playable on the Xbox One as part of the backwards compatibility program, Major Nelson announced on Twitter. Since the tweet, the game’s been added to Xbox One backwards compatibility official list.
For those unfamiliar, Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition was an update to the base game that included balance changes, new characters Yun and Yang and made hidden characters Oni and Evil Ryu playable for the first time.In my review, I said the following about the update: “Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition adds a lot of content without tinkering with the formula that made the game such a tremendous success.”
It’s worth pointing out that the vanilla version of Street Fighter IV is also available as a backwards compatibility title, so if you’re not a fan of Super, you can always download the original game. As of this writing, Ultra Street Fighter IV, the definitive version of the game isn’t backwards compatible, but I think it’s a matter of time before that game’s announced.
Other Xbox One backwards compatible fighting games include Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown, Soulcalibur II HD, The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Skullgirls.
