Apparently, an unnamed source has leaked some details about a remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved. The franchise now belongs to 343 Industries, which recently reported that they weren’t working on any sequels or spinoffs, but they didn’t say anything about a remake. The title is rumored to be ready for the holiday season of 2011.
According to Joystiq, there will be a higher resolution remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, which will support up to 1080p. The unknown source goes on to say that the game will not use Halo: Reach’s engine but a new one that’ll also support 3D and it’ll have online co-op for two players. A different controller configuration should also be expected as the remake will include a reconfiguration of its controls to modern standards.
If the rumors are real you should expect this game be on shelves on November 15, 2011, which surprisingly happens to be the 10th anniversary of the launch of Combat Evolved, so even when there’s nothing confirmed, the rumor makes a lot of sense.
