Today will be the first day of the Activision’s Call of Duty XP fan convention, but a few days ago some producers and analysts gathered to understand how well their most profitable franchise is doing. Yesterday, GameSpot published an article stating that the average Call of Duty: Black Ops user spends $76.
These numbers were revealed by Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg who stated that most players are willing to keep paying for content beyond the game. Since its launch, Black Ops has sold more than 18 million map packs, so if we take into account that 4 different map packs came out and each one of these was available for $15 we can see how popular the game really is.
If we compare this to previous games in the series like Modern Warfare 2 and World at War, we would notice that these franchises have similar results. In any way, Activision expects Modern Warfare 3 to excel these numbers and they have huge expectations for the title. It should be noted that the marketing campaign that was used to promote the game has been immense and Call of Duty: Elite will also be used to enhance the player’s experience as it’ll allow users to use various social service tools for the upcoming military shooter.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 will be released on November 8 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
