Unreal Tournament III was the latest iteration in the Unreal series and it was released almost four years ago. Many fans are still eagerly waiting for an Unreal-related title, but it seems like there isn’t going to be one any time soon. Forbes recently interviewed Epic Games president Mike Capps and he said that they aren’t planning a new installment in the popular series of first-person shooter games.
When asked about Unreal Tournament, Capps said: “Unreal and Unreal Tournament continue to have a huge influence on the studio here, even though we’re not currently working on an Unreal IP project”. Unreal Tournament III was originally released for the PC on 2007 and it eventually became a success, selling more than one million copies worldwide. Unfortunately, these numbers weren’t enough to save its publisher, Midway, from the financial problems it was having.
Additionally, the game was also released for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. The original Unreal Tournament was released over a decade ago and if you’re wondering how well it holds up after all these years you can read my review here.
