Street Fighter: Legacy is a short fan film directed by Joey Ansah and Owen Trevor. The short’s plot is quite basic and it follows the story of Ryu and Ken as they have a fierce match together in which they have the opportunity of using special moves such as Hadōken, Shoryuken and Tatsumaki Senpū Kyaku. This is in fact, the thing that stands out the most about Legacy, the main fight sequence, which is simply stunning. The meticulous attention to detail in every single scene is also a constant and some great CGI sequences are used, making Legacy a good, faithful adaptation that most fans of the series will definitely enjoy.
Although quite short, the film manages to tell a concise story that makes many visual and aural references to the source material (the characters and their signature moves mainly.) It should be noted that there are barely any dialogues at all, but I don’t think anybody will complain about that. Overall, the film shows the passion, love and dedication of their creators and this is something that Hollywood adaptations will probably never be able to replicate. Still, let’s just hope that these directors get the opportunity of making a longer adaptation of a Street Fighter film.
