Over the past few years, there have been rumors about the release of lots of films based on games. Of course, this has been a trend for quite some time now, but at one point, some of these rumors became extremely bizarre. Who on their right minds would like to watch a movie based on The Sims, Spore, Rampage and Asteroids? At this point, no announcement of a film adaptation based on a game comes as a surprise and this leads to the fact that Metro 2033 will get a movie adaptation.
It’s worth noting that the film will be based on the novel and not on the actual game, but since the 2010 shooter itself was based on the book, the stories will be pretty much the same no matter what. A potential cast or release date weren’t confirmed as of this writing. Additionally, there aren’t a lot of details about the script itself, but I think it’s fair to assume that the characters will spend a lot of time in underground tunnels, dealing with mutants and soldiers.
A sequel to Metro 2033, called Metro: Last Light is currently in development. The game is expected to come out sometime next year for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PC.
