Square Enix is working on a remake of Dragon Quest VII (known in North America as Dragon Warrior VII: Warriors of Eden) which will come out early next year to the Nintendo 3DS. According to the latest issue of Jump magazine, the port is supposed to launch in February of next year in Japan.
Additionally, the article makes reference to some of the new features that will be part of the remake, such as the possibility of exchanging shards via Street Pass and the inclusion of some new characters. Originally released for the PlayStation One, Dragon Quest VII was extremely well received both critically and commercially, selling more than 4 million units worldwide. It’s worth noting that Arte Piazza, which developed the original version of Dragon Quest VII and the DS remakes, is in charge of this port.
After the announcement, Square Enix created a teaser site that confirmed the release date. Dragon Quest VII for the 3DS is expected to come out on February 7th, 2013 in Japan.
