Final Fantasy IV is now available on iOS devices. Among other features, this version includes upgraded visuals, voice acting, touch controls, easier difficulty and Game Center support. Additionally, Final Fantasy IV on iOS has another special feature: a hefty price tag, since the portable RPG is available for $15.99.
This version of the game, which is based on the Nintendo DS remake, launched yesterday on iTunes and is compatible with iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad.
In order to promote the release of the remake, Square Enix released a short trailer. The video (embedded on top) teases an iOS version of Final Fantasy V “and more.” Does the “and more” mean that they will release other Final Fantasy games on iDevices? Although this may come to a surprise to many, Square Enix will probably end up releasing most of the Final Fantasy titles in iOS. I’m predicting that Final Fantasy I through IX will all be available on the platform pretty soon. Final Fantasy VII on the iPad? Count me in!
Also worth mentioning: Square has recently announced that most of their iOS are discounted which means that for the first time, some of their titles are available at a reasonable price. For instance, Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions is $8.99 and Chrono Trigger is $6.99. It doesn’t get much better than this…
