Footage of Canceled Streets of Rage Remake Appears Online

It’s a well-known fact that some video games are killed before most people even know they exist. That said, do you remember the Streets of Rage remake that was being developed by Ruffian Games? Recently, a video showing playable footage of a canceled remake of Sega’s classic sidescroller beat ’em up leaked, encouraging developer Ruffian Games (the company behind Crackdown 2) to officially release footage of the prototype.

There’s not much to say about the footage itself: the 3D visuals look appealing, the combat solid and it seems like the overall concept was true to the game’s roots. In the end, it’s sad to know that the project will probably never see the light of day…
